Using WordPress email function instead of SMTP (since Godaddy does not support)?

I have a domain hosted by GoDaddy and built with WrodPress.

I installed the K-news plugin and I was trying to set up the email service. There are two options:
    a) Emails sent internally using WordPress (wp-mail() function)
    b) Send emails using SMTP (recommended)

I tried to set up SMTP, since it was recommended, but discovered GoDaddy does not support that option, unless my domain is on a dedicated server. That is not feasible.
My question is: does option (a) above give me the same email service or are my newsletters more liable to be treated as spam if they are send from the WordPress email server. My deisire is to used the K-news plug in to manage my email marketing campaign and I don’t know if option be is appropriate in support of that objective.

    Thank you for your reply.

That’s not a WordPress.com blog that you are referring to. It’s a WordPress.org install. This support forum is only for blogs hosted at WordPress.com and as your question is about a self-hosted WordPress.org site you’ll find help at the WordPress.org forums. http://wordpress.org/support/
