Using wordpress to for a small business page

Hello – I was wondering if you think it is a good idea to use wordpress for a small business website. It would only be used for information about a small art school, and links to other relevant information. WordPress seems like it would be handy for this sort of thing.

I looked over the terms of service, and I do not think that would be a violation, but I am curious as to what you think.

Well it depends on what type of business we’re talking about. Rather not make guesses. Please note that selling stuff via your blog is against the ToS.

Probably your best bet would be to grab teh software from and find yourself a host though as that way you have total control over your blog.

At least ask the staff through an email or a feedback on Monday as they will tell you. Give LOTS of detail of what you plan on doing!

no, we wouldn’t be selling anything, just advertising, and posting hours. Maybe some photos, maybe a small video clip.

How do I email the staff?

Via the Feedback button along the upper right of your Dashboard.

You can also send in an email to support at this domain but be sure to include all of the necessary information since nothings included when you do that.

Do also remember that you can’t use your blog for SEO purposes as well. It has to contain original content.

alright, thanks. Supposedly support is down for the weekend, so I will wait until Monday

Nah, just the feedback system. You can still send an email though. They might not respond until monday as it’s not an urgent matter.

and what is the email address I would use?

    support at wordpress dot com

As far as I can tell the ToS provided by WP say that you cannot use a blog to drive traffic to a third party commercial website. Does that mean that if the blog is just a couple of pages of information on a business then this is ok? It is simply going to say what the business does and provided some contact details e.g. telephone number and email.

    Thanks for any advice.

its better to send in an email and ask the staff directly. That way you know your getting the right answer. Dosent take but a few seconds to send in an email :)

mevetts: i’m not speaking for, but i believe that is possible. reason being i’ve reported a site doing what you’ve described and it was not suspended.

of course, best to get the final say from the people who matter. =) if you could post here what’s their reply that’ll be great for other users to know too.

I would like to know the answer too! Can one make a small business blog on
