Verifying on Pinterest
I’m having trouble verifying my wordpress blog on pinterest. I’ve seen some questions about it, but it will not work for me. Please help!
The blog I need help with is ashleyfurniturehomestoreca.wordpress.com.
This is the guide http://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/#pinterest-site-verification
We need to know exactly which step you get to when things go wrong. And, we need to know exactly what goes wrong ie. we need to know exactly what you experience.
I am following the guide’s instructions exactly – and every time I click “complete verification” on pinterest’s site I get a pop up saying “Whoops!
Trouble verifying your domain. Please try again later.”
I waited overnight to see if there was any change and got the same results.
I am copying the full text Pinterest includes in the “How to Verify” box after clicking on “verify with a met tag”… Then I click “save changes”.
The website url is: http://www.bluewavesdesigns.com
Sorry – my mistake just on the forum post. I had not put the “www” in when typing the web address on my pinterest account.
Also, I have tried using the wordpress address as you typed above (including the wordpress part) and without (with the direct url I have pointing to my wordpress site).
Now, it tells me:
You’re over your limit for website verifications. Try again later.”

I just tested this on another blog, and I received the same error message. However, after waiting a few minutes, I returned to Pinterest and the blog was successfully verified.
It may just take a little time for the verification code to take effect so Pinterest can find it. Can you check your Pinterest account again and let me know if your site is verified?
If not, please let me know and we can investigate further. :)
I put http://www.ashleyfurniturehomestoreca.wordpress.com/ into the verify website bar on pinterest.
I press Verify Website
I download the Meta Tag and copy it
I go to Tools–Available Tools
I Paste the Meta Tag code in the Pinterest Site Verification bar and save changes
I go back to Pinterest, to complete verification and it says ‘whoops, trouble verifying your domain, please try again later”
I looked at your Pinterest site and it looks like it’s verified. Let me know if you’re still having issues!
I’m having the same exact problem – “whoops, trouble verifying your domain, please try again later”, with all variations as previously described. How can you check the Pinterest site to see if the website is verified? It appears that while the user was being told ‘whoops…’ the site was actually verified. Maybe that’s the case with mine! http://www.pinterest.com/dawnmarie411/ with website url http://dawntempleton.com/
http://dawntempleton.com/ is NOT a free hosted WordPress.COM blog and our instructions do not apply to it. You are posting to the wrong support forum. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate, have different log-ins and run different versions of themes with same names. http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
We provide support only for free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and not for WordPress.org software installs. If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there and receive advice from WordPress.ORG bloggers.
I am having the exact problems with verifying on Pinterest. Cannot verify; same error message. My site IS hosted on WordPress.com with the unique URL: myparttimeparislife.com, which I bought from WP. I have followed the instructions for verifying with the meta tag from Pinterest pasted into the “Available Tools” Pinterest verification area. I am logged in as the admin.

Oh frap! This is a duplicate! Do not post into more than one thread on any issue. Doing that doesn’t mean faster service. It means your request can fall through the cracks. You posted here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/verifying-pinterest?replies=5#post-1653272 and that thread is tagged for Staff. I removed the tag from this thread. Go back to that tagged thread.
Sorry, didn’t mean to duplicate my issue. In fact, I found this thread after and it seemed to more exactly address my issue, as I see others are having the same problem. The duplicated blog issue may not be my problem regarding Pinterest verification. At any rate, I will follow this thread to see where it leads and await reply on the other thread. Thanks for flagging me to staff.
I have discovered another piece of info that might help figure out the issues with verifying me as owner of my site on Pinterest and Technorati: I noticed on Firefox, a warning icon appears next to my url. When you click on it, it says, “This website does not supply identity information. The connection to this website is not fully secure.” When you get more info, it says “Owner: This website does not supply ownership information.” And “Verified by: Not Specified.” My other blog, nolovelocks.com does not have this issue. Could this be the source of the problem? And if so, how to fix it?
