Visual Editor Dog Slow in Firefox 5, fine on IE 9.
When I use Visual Editor to write a new post (full editor ) in FF 5, it goes very slow. What I mean is that when I type, there is an intermittent delay of several 1-2 seconds before a letter appears on the screen, the same if I backspace. Sometimes I can just type way a few words before this symptom hits, and then I get stuck for a while, and then it resume normal speed for another 30 seconds or so.
This makes writing a post take extremely long, and definitely interrupts the flow of my writing. I disabled all of my addons and it hasn’t change a thing.
Firefox has been my main browser for the longest time, and I would hate to lose it. However, if I have to, I’ll switch to Chrome or IE as my blogging is more important than browser loyalty. Typing the same post in IE 9 goes swimmingly.
Unless someone has an idea, I think its time for FF and I to part.
Can we get a link to the site you are talking about?
the problem occurs on multiple sites on different hosts, but always the same browser- FF 5.
Since this forum is for people who are hosted at wordpress.COM, and it sounds like you might be talking about self-hosted blogs, you need to inquire over at http://wordpress.ORG/support/ as that is where self-hosted blogs are supported.
I have a self-hosted wordpress site and a number of web clients on wordpress, and have zero problems with FF 5.0.1 when using posts in the editor, either in the visual tab, the HTML tab, or in the full-screen editor mode, and none of my clients have mentioned the issue.
I would turn off all of your add-ons, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then try again. If the problem goes away, start turning your add-ons back on one at a time to find out which one is causing the issue and then contact the add-on author about it, but leave it turned off till they fix the issue.
I did that before I posted about the problem. Thank you for clarifying the correct location for hosted WordPress support.
After loading and configuring Google Chrome, I can confirm that it works like a champ in that browser as well as IE. For now I’m just going to use Chrome for blogging, which I was overdue in evaluating anyway. It also saves me time as I have more important things to do than chase after problems in Firefox.
