Want to remove a permanent link

  • How do I remove a post that is on the front page that says it is a permanent link? I even deleted the post at the dashboard level and it is still there like a post that won’t die.

  • Which link do you mean? Can you point us directly to the post?

  • http://todopadre.wordpress.com/ and there are 4 posts on the front page when you scroll down. That is the front page correct? I want it to show only two posts and set it on settings- reading. How do you do that and thank you so much for helping me rosclarke.

  • Um, I’m still not sure what the problem is. Under settings-reading you can set it to two posts per page if you want. What does that have to do with a permanent link?

  • it doesn’t, sorry. That was a separate question. Now, when I roll over the top post. the one about the parade, it says permanent link to that post, too. How did they get to be permanent links and how come after I deleted the other post -the one titled “For Christmas – a gift to my readers” it is still appearing on the front page?

  • I don’t see any post entitled ‘For Christmas – a gift to my readers’.

All posts have permanent links – that’s how someone can link to an individual post rather than just the blog as a whole. But when you delete a post, those links become invalid too.

  • I did delete it and it is gone on the dashboard but the post is still on the front page… like a ghost. Here is what I did: I rolled over the post and it said permalink – I right clicked and then clicked on open, took it to edit and now it is fine. It is still there, just with the possibly offending mark removed. Also, why are there 4 posts on the front page when I have it set to 2 on settings – reading – 2?

  • Where on the front page? I don’t see a post with that title at all.

Do you have any posts marked as sticky? That might affect the number of posts displayed.

  • Maybe you’re seeing an older version of the blog from your browser’s cache. Try clearing your cache and cookies and loading the page again.

  • @islandprincess15: We’ve answered that in your other thread. Notice that the first three of your posts have a differently styled title: all three of them are stickies, and stickies override the number of posts per page. Edit Post > Publish > Visibility > Edit > Uncheck Stick > OK > Update.
