What are iO.wp.com and i2.wp.com?

Hi Wendy,
Those URLs are from Photon, our image acceleration and editing service for WordPress.com and Jetpack-connected WordPress sites.
For example, this is a Photon link:
And Photon creates that link from this one:
It’s showing up as a broken image because that image file no longer exists — it was deleted from your WordPress.com site a few years ago. You can fix that by uploading the image to your site again.
Please let me know if you have any other questions about that. :)

Thankyou Rachel!
It’s like a breath of fresh air to read support responses on WP.com. They are so clear and helpful.
I’m really noticing my lack of IT knowledge when I ask for help from Bluehost and WP.org and I love the way your answer can be easily understood AND you suggest a fix for my problem.
Happy :)

Hi Rachel,
Another question about this…
Since the original image file still exists, I thought perhaps I could change the image link in the post back to http://textiletrails.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/img_0712.jpg
by just taking out the i0.wp.com.However, when I check the link for the image, it is actually correct. ie, the image link IS http://textiletrails.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/img_0712.jpg
Any idea how to actually find the link that contains the iO.wp.com?
Even when I change from visual editor to text editor I don’t see it:
href=”http://textiletrails.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/img_0712.jpg”><img class=”aligncenter size-large wp-image-883″ title=”IMG_0712″ src=”http://textiletrails.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/img_0712.jpg?w=1024″ alt=”” width=”614″ height=”461″ /></p>
Many thanks,
Wendy

Hi Wendy,
I checked the original image link at http://textiletrails.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/img_0712.jpg and I don’t see an image there. Instead, I see an error message because the file was deleted from your site.
If you’re seeing something different, you may need to refresh your browser or clear your browser’s cache. (Sometimes images like that can get saved in your browser, even after they are deleted and not visible to other people.)
Once you re-add the image to the post or page where you see the broken link, it will be fixed on your site.
