What book are you reading, and why?

    The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair

Doe not lose its relevance with time.

    Memorable quote:
“What,” asks the prophet, “is the murder of them that kills the body, to the murder of them that kills the soul?”

  2. I'm just starting A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess... I've heard it's good, so I decided to read it.

    No memorable quotes yet.

  3. "The Story of Edgar Sawtelle"

Why? It was 50 percent off at the bookstore.

Surprisingly good, but no quote as of yet.

  4. I just read "when affirmative action was white" for one of my classes.

for fiction reading, i highly recommend "Shantaram" by Gregory David Roberts. Its a wonderful novel (

  5. Currently reading "World War Hulk". Hey, comic books are books. Heehee.

It's after they shot the Hulk into space to be someone else's problem and he lands on this alien planet where he ends up king. But the spacecraft he came in exploded and killed a lot on his new planet so he rounds up an army and wages war on those responsible for shooting him into space.

    I wanna read Clockwork too.

  6. i just started the 6'th Ender's Game book, shadow of the hegemon. I'm about 15 pages in and don't have a qoute yet. I started reading it because I loved the first 5 and I'll probably love the next four.

If so my wife and I listening to John Sandford's Virgil Flowers series. Looking at buying the prey series next. I know out of order but we bought the two books and liked them so we want the others.

  11. Bennyman, I love Jeff Smith. I love Bone. I actually liked it more in black and white. Smith's art is like If frank Miller worked for Disney.

Plane, I think audiobooks are still books. Heehee. I just got a bunch of Neil Gaiman audiobooks. It's my sleep soundtrack.

  12. Whoops, I meant Bennywoman. =)

  13. My current book is Lust For Life, by Irving Stone.

It's a fictional biography of Vincent VanGogh. I'm reading it because I have kind of liked his art ever since I learned about him at school, but since moving to the Netherlands I wanted to learn more about him before visiting the Van Gogh museum. Since reading the book I have grown much more fond of him and am pretty excited about eventually visiting the museum.

Meganmulder will already know that this is my favorite quote from the book:

“There were three urchins sitting on his window sill, chanting. He lashed out at them. They scampered down the boarding. The crowd below roared. Vincent stood at the window, looking down at them.

A rush of blackbirds came out of the sky, thousands of cawing, beating blackbirds. They darkened the Place Lamartine, swooped down on Vincent, struck him, filled the room, engulfed him, flew through his hair, into his nose and mouth and eyes, buried him in a thick, black, airless cloud of flapping wings.”
