When I try to use my blog, it says I do not have the necessary privileges.

  1. This is my blog. I am the sole owner, administrator, or whatever it's called. When I try to write a new post, I get this message:

User commic Cannot Access the Dashboard Requested

You are logged in as "commic" and do not have the necessary privileges to access the dashboard for "New Post". If you are not "commic", please log out, and log back in with your username. If you are "commic" and you need access, please ask an administrator of the site to invite you.

If you reached this screen by accident and meant to visit one your own sites, here are some shortcuts to help you find your way.

  2. If you have more than one username then note that you must be logged in under the same username account that registered the blog you want to access.

  3. Thanks, but I only have one username.

  4. May I please confirm exactly which blog you are referring to? Is it this one?

  5. mylittlehousingblog

You are saying that you cannot delete a account, but I have been thinking... Some of us are logging on from Swedish and Finnish accounts, and over here you can close ANY subscription you want. But not allowing Swedisg and Finnish citizens to permanently close their accounts, are you not violating those countries laws? Sure your American lawyers will try to come across these laws somehow, but I would like to see how.

Who are you addressing? Where do you see that stated in this thread? I don't have clue why you are posting that off-topic remark here. It's not relevant to this issue which is a technical one being referred to Staff. To post your own thread on your own topic here's the link >

  7. @mylittlehousingblog is no longer available.
The authors have deleted this blog.

You were answered by Staff previously here >

  8. Timethief -- yes, that's it.

  9. @commic
Thanks for the confirmation. I have flagged this thread for Staff attention. Please be patient while waiting.

  10. Can you access the Dashboard directly at ?

  11. @timethief
    Thank you, I'll be patient.

When I try that link, I get some version of the Dashboard, but there's a message saying,
"Your browser is out of date!
It looks like you're using an old version of Firefox. For the best WordPress experience, please update your browser."
In fact my Firefox is 10.0.2, and I have automatic updates.

  12. Firefox 10.0.2 is a quite a bit out of date.

Try manually installing the latest version, 14.0.1:

  13. @macmanx
Thank you, I've installed it. My Firefox automatic update must not have been working (even though it said it was).
I logged off wordpress and then back on again, went to my blog, and tried "new post". As before, I get a small window for writing a post, with a "Publish Post" button at the lower right and a "+Add Tags" button at the lower left. No "Preview", existing tags, etc.

  14. Try posting from the full interface at Posts -> Add New in your blog's Dashboard.

  15. @macmanx

Ah, the link you gave gives me the familiar screen! Why doesn't it show up when I simply choose "new post"?

  16. @macmanx

The link in your email was explicit, but now I see that the one printed here in the forum was just Posts -> Add New. Very simple, thank you very much.

  17. That's a new posting interface. It's designed more for working out a quick post, so it isn't as fully featured yet.

The main posting interface is still at Posts -> Add New in your blog's Dashboard.

  18. @macmanx

It's been a few months since I posted, so I must have forgotten that that was how you start, and when I saw the new interface you refer to, I was baffled.

Many thanks for the prompt help with the blog, and also with Firefox!

  19. You're welcome!
