When signing up it is saying email is already in use

  • When signing up for a new WordPress blog it is saying email is already in use but I know it is not in use by anyone but the owner of the site. (I am the administrator of the site and we are in the process of moving our website to WordPress) Perhaps in the past we signed up but never really used the WordPress acct?
    How can I have the duplicate email address removed as it is the owner’s business site and email and I DO know for a FACT no one else is using it. Can you send a verification to the owner or how can we go about this? Thank you so much for any assistance.
