Where can I add some code of my own?

I want to be able to add some of my own code. I want to put it in the widgets area. I’ve tried adding a text-widget and pasting my code there, but it doesn’t seem to accept code.

How can I add my own code?

Is it javascript code? If it is, the code is then stripped due to security reasons.

Sounds like you’re doing it right. If it’s not accepting it, its probably because of some sort of security issue. Can’t tell for sure since you don’t tell us what code you’re trying to add in. Is is some sort of javascript or embed tag? Those are stripped due to security concerns.

    <iframe src="radio.blog/index.php" name="radio" scrolling="no" frameborder="0" width="220" height="320"></iframe>

    this is the code

The wordpress programming is stripping out the code to preserve security because it’s a iframe. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=8052&page&replies=9

is there any other way I can do this?

Seeing the actual code would help. There’s no such*.tld as *.blog.

Ok, so nothing in an iframe is allowed.

Is there any other way I can do this?

I want some type of widget-MP3 player on my blog. I’m a musician trying to create music with my friends. We want to share the stuff we’re working on.

I took a look at the sonific solution and I don’t like the player – there’s no way to fast forward or skip tracks.

My friend has a Blogspot blog and he’s able to use the Radio.Blog player. He uses ftp to upload his music to his own different server – then drops the code (I pasted above) into his widget section on his blog to access and play the tunes.

You say I can’t do this because iframes are not allowed. – Are there any other options available?

Isn’t there anyone else who setup something like this?

I saw this other player on http://www.yourminis.com/pages/yourminis/widgetrix/mp3
it was the first result in a google search for keyword: “mp3 widget”

Will this sort of player do the trick? – their code is:
    <script type='text/javascript'>var ym_serverlocation='http://www.yourminis.com/live.aspx?tabid=yourminis/widgetrix/mp3'</script><script type='text/javascript' src='http://www.yourminis.com/scripts/ymdisplay.js'></script><script type='text/javascript' src='http://www.yourminis.com/scripts/ymbadge.js'></script><img alt='yourminis.com Heads Up Display' onmouseout=this.src='http://www.yourminis.com/images/yourminis_badge.png';' onmouseover=this.src='http://www.yourminis.comimages/viewbadgeover.png';' src='http://www.yourminis.comimages/yourminis_badge.png' style='cursor:pointer' onclick='toggleYMBadge();'/>

Sigh … the answer to the using the code above is no because it’s javascript. The wpMU software will strip it to preserve security. WordPress.com is a multi-user blogging platform and that means if you were allowed to use javascript or iframes or embeds (other than the few listed) other blogs could be affected and security could be compromised for us all.

WordPress.com and wordpress.org run on different software. So, your best bet may be to move to self-hosting or to hiring a web host and having him or her download a free blog template for you from http://wordpress.org https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=3700&page&replies=1

Do you mean radioblogclub.com by any chance? There is no *.blog tld.

so i can use the [audio ] tag in a post but not in the text widget, is that correct? and is it [brackets ] or ?

The only ways to add music to your blog are stated here http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/12/24/how-do-i-get-music-on-my-blog/ I also know that no other embeds, iframes or forms are allowed and that the codes for them will be stripped out to preserve security on this multi-user blogging platform http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/10/23/can-i-add-flash-video-embed-other-media/

yes, i understand that. i would like to have a song that i have uploaded elsewhere play in one of my sidebars. to do that, as i understand it, i would either use sonorific (does not allow me to upload song of my choice), or can i use a text widget and input the [audio ] tag as described in the FAQ? I have attempted that and it does not work. So I want to know, firstly, can I do that, or does it only work in blog posts (i.e., not widgets), and if I can do it in a widget, is the tag format with [brackets ] or with ? Thank you for your help.

i think the brackets tags only work in posts, not widgets. Not sure how you can do this with a widget…
