Who is SiteLock and why are they sending emails saying they scanned my site?

  1. Today I received an email from SiteLock saying "The SiteLock Platform Digest provides you with a high-level security analysis of the health and risks associated with your website. We calculate your risk score and deliver your website scanning results on a weekly basis – ensuring you always have visibility to the security of your site."
    I called them and told them I did not order their services and asked why they are they doing it. They said that host companies sometimes provide their services to their customers and I should contact WordPress.

    My website is paranormal-personal-encounters.com and I do not want them scanning my website.

    Can you please advise what this is all about?

    Thanks for the reply to help. I tried the chat but got a message that they will not be available for a week. I think they are in training.

    After calling SiteLock about this, they supposedly gave me a phone number to call WordPress. A guy answered and after I told him I did not order their service he started spelling out another website for me to go to to solve this. At that point, I just told him I would contact WordPress. Consequently, I just went back to the SiteLock's email received and unsubscribed from receiving future messages from them.

  4. There is no phone support here at WordPress.COM. You will have to wait patiently for Staff to respond to you here.

  5. Thanks! I realized that the moment the guy started talking who answered the phone at the number SiteLock gave me for WordPress. I do understand that it will be awhile before getting a reply from WordPress since they will not be available for a week since they are in.an employee workshop. In the past I have had great responses from WordPress reps and hope they enjoy the week.

    Sitelock is a plugin feature for self-hosted WordPress.org sites. So, since you are hosted with WordPress.com and we provide our own security, Sitelock contacting you shouldn't have been in regards to paranormal-personal-encounters.com. Do you have or have you had a self-hosted WordPress site?

  8. Yeah, I am not sure what Sitelock was up to here. The fact that they gave you a phone number for WordPress considering we do not have a phone number for support made me question what was going on. If you want to, you can touch base with them again and let them know what we have stated and see how they respond. But, since you do not have a self-hosted WordPress site, I'm not sure why they are contacting you.
