Why are the ads on our blogs inappropriate?
My WordPress site is set up for classroom, student, and parent use. I am recently having trouble with inappropriate ads popping up on my website. Ads my students should not have access to. I’ve had my site for about 3 years and have never had this problem. In researching this issue, I find that I can block the ads for $30 a year. Once again, I’ve had my site for 3 years and have never had any trouble, why now? I am very disappointed. I can no longer use my site for classroom use.

WordPress.com has been running advertising on our free hosted blogs since 2006. Many bloggers do not know this because despite the fact they ticked the box required to get a free blog, they did not read the ToS. Many also do not read the advertising entry http://en.support.wordpress.com/advertising/ in the support documents after registering their username and blog(s). Also note that as the ads do not display to us when we are logged in, and as many use browsers with ad blockers when logged out, they may not realize they are there at all.
The only way to get rid of all advertising on our free hosted WordPress.com blogs is to purchase an annually renewable No-Ads upgrade.
