Why can't I made the Fresh and Clean post slider change automatically?
I noticed while browsing the web that the Fresh and Clean theme allowed, at one point, a post slider that would change automatically. Apparently there was a “slides” tab on the left menu, where you could edit each slide individually, controlling the animation. Here is the link I found with this information: http://www.wpexplorer.com/fresh-clean-wordpress-theme-by-wpexplorer
In the description, it says, “Fresh & Clean comes with a NivoSlider image slider on the homepage. Via the theme panel you can choose your sliding speed, animation and transition. You can also define a custom link for each slide or leave the option blank to show only images.”
There is even a video on how to set up the slider: http://www.wpexplorer.com/videos/fresh-clean-wordpress-theme-slider-setup. My question is why is this feature is no longer available? It would be nice to have the slider actually “slide” as the name implies.
The blog I need help with is verbs-are-greater.com.
The post slider on the Fresh and Clean theme is not designed to automatically advance. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/post-slider/ In most themes with featured post sliders visitors have to click to advance the slider to the next featured post. Some themes have a featured post slider that automatically advances: Debut, Currents, Linen, On Demand, Modularity Lite. (the first 4 are premium themes) and the last one is a free theme.
Please be aware that WordPress.com is a mutiuser blogging platform and when themes are introduced here they have been adapted to run on this software. Hence, the links you posted are not relevant to us WordPress.com bloggers as they don’t apply to the adapted versions of the theme we have available to us. The relavent links for the version we have here are these:
Thank you for your reply. The information you gave was very helpful. Are there any other sites (not WordPress.com) that the Fresh & Clean theme will work (with the automatic slider)? If the theme exists, it must be able to operate somewhere, I presume.
I would go to the theme designer’s site (there’s a link in the footer of the theme) and ask if there is a version of it for WordPress.org installs.
I moved a blog back to WordPress.com last year. It was a self hosted install that I had a very nice paid theme with an automatically advancing slider on. I was enamored with the slider. My visitors weren’t enamored with it and some complained that it distracted them. I received several emails that asked me to stop driving them crazy with it. I removed the automatic advancing function and everyone was happy.
Now that you mention it, I do think the stationary slider is better. I can see how an automatically transitioning one could be distracting to visitors. Thanks for the help and the personal insight.
You’re welcome and best wishes with your blog. :)
