Why do WordPress staff treat us users as though we are idiots
Is it just me, or others starting to feel the aggression that is coming from the WP staff. I feel like I am being treated as though I am stupid, that I don’t understand what is going on.
I have to say the staff that are dealing with the problems that people are having right now are not good for PR.
The blog I need help with is leannecolephotography.com.
I spend a lot of time in the forum and I haven’t seen any aggression from anyone at Automattic in months.
There IS a lot of aggro around, though, because a lot of things are broken, a lot of things are not broken but changed in a way which displeases the users, a lot of things are not broken but changed in a way which confuses users into thinking they’re broken, etc, etc, etc. And at no point were users asked for feedback or permission about these changes.
That breeds hostility. LOTS of it. But like I said, although staff are not giving people the answers they want to hear, I don’t think I’ve seen any hostility lately. Do you have a specific example?
Yes, I feel exactly what leannewhatever is talking about.
I posted a question in forum and this lady replied with a very negative tone and told me NOT to hop around from place to place. HELLO, I’m a grown woman and I hopped around to forum to forum to comment on the issues other people were having similar to mine.
And yes, they tell you to do this or do that but my computer is working perfectly fine. I had over 20K views and then this bug came called PERMISSION DENIED to majority of the countries who visit my site and now i have less then 10k, once i posed that question, which still hasn’t been resolved – i rec’d a lot of dummy things to do,
How do you know it was staff?
Which question are you referring to?
Someone named TIMETHIEF is very agressive in her response – that’s the only one I’ve encountered worth mentioning.
I’m so sorry you thought my replies to you were aggressive. In fact I felt no aggression whatsover towards you. I simply wanted to prevent you from wasting your time and Volunteer time by hopping to every thread on the issue and posting into all of them, because doing that means it takes longer for you to get support.
@raincoaster – since you mentioned it:
#2 – timethief reply to rubyfoot was a bit much
#3, #4, #5 – my issue was never answer (fully to me) or resolved
#6 – by timethief – her statement to me was like voicing my opinion on someone’s else thread was illegal
All in all, everyone’s else time is very much appreciate and working together makes all of our blogs beautiful
Unless someone has a grey background to their username and a description identifying them as staff, they are not staff.

Thanks Wank –
As Staff is working on your country stats – permission denied issue in this active thread that you can post into > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/stats-permission-denied?replies=12 I’m flagging this thread for closure.

sassystreak, it looks like we’ve got you squared away. It would be best to stick with the threads you have.
leannewhatever, as mentioned, staff have a grey background behind their username/gravatar area. Anyone else is a user, like yourself, volunteering their time to help folks here. Anyone can do this, but unfortunately not many do.
If you have any specific examples of staff being aggressive towards you, I’d be happy to take a look.
I think a lot of people can tell how annoyed staff at wordpress are getting. They are responding to people as though everyone is one person. I know what it is like to have to say the same thing over and over to a person and they don’t get it, but whilst we are community we are also all very individual. You are getting snappy. I’ve been asked to do things in ways that made me feel like I was an idiot.
I haven’t noticed any outright aggressive behaviour, but it is bordering on it. I have been treated as though I was an idiot.
WP can’t expect to make major changes to the way we use WP or interact with it that are not popular, and not expect people to be upset about it. People are going to complain, and if you aren’t providing adequate knowledge to the users of those changes, then seriously what do you expect. I’ve checked out the news section, hoping I would find information on the changes that you are making, so I would know, but there is nothing there.
This whole situation and disaster is of your own making, so don’t blame us for being upset. Don’t treat people as though they are stupid, they just want answers.
NOw about specific examples, I dealt with it when it happened and was given an apology, but other people are feeling it, so I’m just asking you to understand and be patient with everyone. Would help if I could, but I don’t really understand what is going on either.
I’ve tried to rely problems and their solutions on my blog to my readers and followers, but I don’t always understand or know what is happening.
I’ve been asked to do things in ways that made me feel like I was an idiot.
I can’t speak to anyone or improve the situation if I don’t know the who or the why. I’ll need examples for that.

Who is blaming who exactly? I haven’t seen any of this.
@macmanx OMG WP are the most frustrating people to deal with, you go around and around in circles. I feel like I’m having an argument with my 12 years old.
I don’t want to blame anyone in particular. I had a problem and the person talking to me was making me feel stupid, now you are. I told that person not to do it, and they apologised. But I have noticed that the same tone is coming out in other peoples responses.
Why can’t you just say, “OK, we weren’t aware of this, we will try and make sure it doesn’t happen” or “we certainly didn’t mean to sound like that”. Why do I have to prove that I was being treated like that?
I don’t understand why it isn’t enough for you for me to say that is how I felt. I thought I was giving some advice to a company about how they were treating people, in most circumstances, in every day life, that is exactly how it would be, we apologise madam, we didn’t realise, it wasn’t our intention.
You are making me angry now, and the way you are treating me is appalling, should I complain about you now. Apparently I am not the only one feeling this way.
Ahh, I get it, harass people who make a complaint, so other people see it and then no one else will. Only improve something if it can be proved.
