Why does Top Post/Pages widget show gravatar if the post contains only YouTube?

Wouldn’t it be better if the Top Post & Pages widget were to grab the screen-shot of the YouTube cover image and show it in the widget list? This cover image is something WordPress email sends out when the post is emailed to the subscribers. At present, the gravatar image shows up on youtube embedded posts.

The blog I need help with is ismailimail.wordpress.com.

Grabbing from a linked video propably will result in copyright problems.

No, it won’t, but it’s not possible. If there’s no image or text, then what the RSS feed sees is basically an embed, and that can’t be read, it’s a blank to RSS. If you want it in the post, copy it as a Jpg and upload it to the post so something shows.

I don’t know how WordPress email grabs the image, but if it is RSS than I believe the same could be used in the widget. I am assuming that the email uses RSS because the delivery is so quick.

Uploading the image to the post doesn’t work unless you make it a Featured Image (then it works and the image shows up properly in the wiedge). I don’t like to use Featured Image in the post hence my query.
