Why don't embed codes work for widgets/ youtube etc?
Embed codes don’t work, I’ve tried to put several widgets as html in my side bar and they didn’t work.
I tried to put a few youtube videos in comments space and it still didn’t work.
What could the problem be?
You can see here some comments we got as videos:
Also, I’ve tried to place some music players in the sidebar, but none worked. Why is that?
The blog I need help with is attireclub.wordpress.com.
If you have an iframe code you can copy/ paste it in the text tab.
No, you can’t. iFrames are stripped out here.
It worked fine by me. Maybe it’s because I used an vimeo embed.
Yes, it works only in the case of some “trusted partners” that WP officially supports (such as Vimeo or Youtube). You will notice that again the iframe code is converted into the appropriate shortcode.
it seems sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t!
with some videos it works perfectly, others are links or just text.
We have received several comments on this page: http://attireclub.wordpress.com/recommended/
and each seems to be different!

These are the video embeds that WordPress.com supports for all of our blogs – no upgrade required. http://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/
See here for the videopress upgrade which allows you to upload videos from your computer for hosting and playback directly within your blog.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/videopress/ But note that if you upload your own videos to youtube or fileden, etc. that you don’t need to purchase the upgrade.
As justpi said Flash embeds are not allowed, with the exception of some specific shortcodes. See: http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/
For a Flash workaround see here knowing that as it’s a workaround > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/07/22/gigya-shortcode-3-widgets/
