Why is my blog's homepage showing more than one post suddenly?

  1. dragonflywoman

Anyone know why my blog is showing more than one blog post on the homepage all of a sudden? I have it set so it's supposed to show only the most recent post and it always has in the past, but as of today it appears to be doing the infinite scrolling thing that people were complaining about in the Twenty Ten and Twenty Eleven templates. I use Coraline, so is the infinite scrolling a new "feature" for my template as well or is there something else happening here? I really hate having more than one blog post on the homepage, so I'd like to fix this if possible.

The blog I need help with is

  2. Apparently Coraline has now been added to the ever-growing list of themes that have Infinite Scrolling on the Front Page of a site. There's a sticky post at the top of the forums about it.

Here's a tip from timethief that explains how to get back to having a limited number of posts on the front page.

  3. Welcome to Matt and AutoMATTic make decisions and everyone here has to live with the consequences.

Your only choice is to switch to a theme that has footer widgets and then you can put a blank text widget into the footer and then turn off infinite scrolling at settings > reading. Of course they will likely figure out a way to make infinite scrolling work with the footer widgets and then even that avenue will be gone.

Freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose. (From a song by Janice Joplin.)

  4. @tsp-Apparently Coraline does have a footer widget option, at least it does on my test site. (Who knows, maybe they're doing A/B testing...)

  5. I have Coraline for my blog and have been going insane trying to fiqure this out and coraline has 4 footer options so timethief's solution for this works perfectly

The ability to disable infinite scrolling was provided by Staff, after a lengthy discussion with bloggers, who did not appreciate losing the ability to control how many posts appear on the front/main page of their blogs protested loud and long about not being able to disable that new feature.

Excellent! Thank you everyone! I appreciate the help. The widget + turning infinite scrolling off worked quite well.
