Why is type appearing over my custom header image?
I’m trying to launch a blog using the My Life theme, and uploaded a number of custom header images, but the post type keeps appearing OVER the image instead of below it where it belongs. First I cropped a larger image to the 1010 X 250 proportion, then distorted a second one to that size, but it didn’t make a difference, and typing in a sample first post didn’t either. How can I fix this?
The blog I need help with is dearhank.wordpress.com.
In my test blog using My Life theme, when you opt for not showing “header text” with the header image, the title of the first post is too high. Certainly a bug!
I’ll move this to the themes forum and put a modlook tag on this thread so the Theme Team can take a look.

Thanks for the quick response! Do keep me “posted”.
I had exactly the same problem. I ended up shrinking the image I uploaded to 1010 x 150. I uploaded it without cropping to fit and it seems to have worked. You can see the result here Themondaybaker
Hope this helps.
Thanks Debbie, but squeezing my header image even smaller will ruin it. If WP can’t fix the problem, I may go with a different theme…
Thank you for the report. I’ve replicated the issue and will alert our developers so they can have a look.
The problem with the My Life header should now be fixed. You may need to refresh your sites to see it.
If anyone still has an issue with this, please let me know. Apologies for the inconvenience and thanks again for the report.
Much better, Kathryn. Thanks!
When I tried a sample post, though, and looked at my preview, the “Home >> Uncategorized” link line appears right above the blog post title. Does this only show up on the preview? If not, is there a way to get rid of it? Here’s someone else’s My Life blog in which it doesn’t appear:
Hi there, it sounds like you’re referring to the breadcrumb navigation – is this what you mean?
Breadcrumbs are visible on individual posts, but not the blog front page. You can see it on the site you mentioned, above this post, for example:
That element could be removed using CSS, with our Custom Design upgrade.
Just let me know if you need further help.
Okay, I see now. Don’t remember ever having breadcrumbs on other WP sites I did, so they’re probably just on selected themes. It clutters up the look pretty bad but I’d rather not upgrade if I don’t have to, so may end up going with a different theme. Thanks.
Yes, breadcrumbs are only on certain themes. They can be helpful for larger sites in particular.
Good luck with your theme search!
