Why would my blog not be searchable?

When you go to the WordPress homepage, up in the right corner there is a search box for blogs. When you type in the name of my blog (Thoughts from the Farm), or type in my wordpress address, I don’t show up.

I have typed tags & categories that I use and still I don’t show up. My blog is public so that can’t be it. I don’t need to be at the top of the search (would be nice, but that’s not what I’m after), but I would like to show up somewhere. I’ve had a few friends (and I did it myself) try to bring up my blog – all attempts were unsuccessful.

    What haven’t I done?

The blog I need help with is slworrell.wordpress.com.

    I’m sorry to say that I don’t know. I checked here: http://ismyblogworking.com/slworrell.wordpress.com
    # Your blog is indexed by Google (35 results)
    # Your blog is indexed by Bing (2 results)

I also checked here > Google search strong “site:slworrell.wordpress.com”

I have typed tags & categories that I use and still I don’t show up.

The global tag pages list the posts in order of date stamp and the categories and tags use are very common ones. There are members posting 24 hours every day from all over the globe and the posts get pushed down and onto another page very quickly as new ones are published and appear at the top.

Cool information – nice to see its at least indexed. Wonder why my blog doesn’t pop up somewhere. I’m always giving out the name (TFTF) and its rather sad that no one can find it.

I thought perhaps using tags/categories might be pushing it – considering the volume of users, but it didn’t hurt to try (or ask).

Thanks Timethief, once again for your time and help. You’re a star.

The other issue with the wordpress.COM search, is I don’t think it searches by blog name. Try putting the title of one of your posts into the search box and see what happens.

Also, as I remember it will not search by author or username either.

Maybe this is a loaded question but if it does not return search results for a specific title of a post, or for author or for username what are the results based upon? Surely they cannot be based solely on Categories and Tags, can they?

I just searched for a post by title and the search results immediately returned what I searched for http://en.search.wordpress.com/?q=+Changing+WordPress+Themes%3A+A+Mid-Life+Blog+Crisis

Yes, post titles typically come up just fine – in most cases. Searching for blog names, authors and usernames though has never come up when I tried it.

The WordPress.com search does not search any of the things the OP searched for. It does not search blog titles, categories or tags. It searches content only.

Well, it must be me then!

I logged out and typed in “Want a little broccoli with that pizza?” a post from yesterday. It didn’t show up. I did click on the most recent posts (button) just in case. However, when I typed “Photo’s of some new additions to the Farm” also from yesterday, this one showed up. Rather picky search engine, isn’t it? :)

Thanks for the help and information.
