widen body content?
-
I am using the elegant grunge theme and would like to widen the body, or narrow the LH side bar. I know it’s possible, seen a couple people do it, but all you WP people speak in code which may as well be Chinese. Can anyone provide me with simple instructions to do this?
I am trying to get three thumbnail pics across the body for products but only two fit. If you go to my page and clik the test page you will see this.
Thanks ChrisThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I think your post container is just wide enough to fit your thumbnails side by side without having to change your theme’s CSS.
Try looking in the Text view of your post and removing all those paragraph returns in there (
<p> </p>
) as well as any space between the three image tags, then making sure all the images are aligned left, not right. See if that will work for you. -
okay thanks I will try that when I get home. It still seems like just wasted space on the left hand side preferably I would like to have four somes going across but I know that space on the left hand side is needed for some type of screen resolution or something like that sorry for any typos doing this from my phone

I removed all the spaces and “&” things. Didn’t work. This guy’s site has a huge body content area. http://carsandcode.com/about/comment-page-1/#comment-2239 . Anyone know how to do that?

Please consult the Quick specs for your theme here https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/elegant-grunge/

This is what I read:
Quick Specs (all measurements in pixels):
One sidebar: main column width is 490, sidebar width is 220.
Two sidebars: main column width is 490, primary sidebar width is 220, secondary sidebar width is 220.
No sidebar: main column width is 760.
Custom header image dimensions are 956 by 160 (width, height). They tell us exactly how wide the “blogging space” in post and pages will be be in different layouts. In your case this applies: One sidebar: main column width is 490, sidebar width is 220.
So if you want three thumbnails to fit side by side in a post or a page you now know how wide each one must be. Note: A small amount of space between them is required too.

re: the full width static page in the site your referred to above at http://carsandcode.com/about/comment-page-1/#comment-2239
Logic would seem to suggest that the layout that blogger used on his About page is this full page template
No sidebar: main column width is 760.For widget visibility settings that determine which pages which widgets display on see also http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/#widget-visibility

re: No Sidebar Page Template
You can use a full-width page template if you want to keep the sidebar on your blog but remove it on a page. You can use the Full Width, No Sidebar template, by selecting it under Page Attributes.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-attributes/#templateIf you don’t see the Template module, please make sure you’ve selected the Module in your Screen Options.

Timethief you’re the bomb. I removed the RH sidebar. The answer was right at my fingertips the entire time.
