I have a lot of widgets which I want to appear on the right hand side of the screen. However, shortly after my flickr widget, most of the lower widgets are right down at the bottom of the page and on the LEFT hand side. I have tried moving them over to the right, but nothing seems to work. I also want to make a new widget (html) but I can’t get a new widget box to appear on the right hand side of my screen. All the previous widgets have been set up in the same way, and yet half of them appear lower down the screen on the left hand side. Please help. Have I got too many widgets perhaps?
The blog I need help with is catwalkthreads.wordpress.com.
Sidebars and widgets in them do not fall to the bottom and display below posts and/or posts do not appear in sidebars and/or fonts don’t suddenly change to italics or bold lettering throughout the blog unless:
(1) content has been imported into the blog
(2) the blogger has been copying and pasting content from elsewhere, without using either icon 5 or icon 6 in Row 2 of the visual editor http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#pasting-text
(3) or the blogger has copied and pasted invalid HTML into a text widget or left an HTML tag open
See here for sorting this out > http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2012/05/19/sidebar-at-the-bottom-and-related-issues/
I’ve deleted all the widgets that were appearing on the left-hand side of my blog, as I’ve not been able to determine why they were there. The html coding was correct. They all used to appear on the right-hand side of my blog previously but were showing over on the left side, and right at the end of my posts. I hadn’t changed anything on them but they moved nonetheless.
All I want to do now is add ‘Archives’ to my widget list. I’ve just done that and unfortunately it also appears down at the very end of my blog posts, on the left-hand side, instead of on the right.
I have not added my own html coding for the ARCHIVE widget so is there any reason that is not appearing where it should?
Again, see this (as noted above):
You most likely have a tag out of place or unclosed or some other coding error.
“I have not added my own html coding for the ARCHIVE widget so is there any reason that is not appearing where it should?”
Yes of course: it’s not appearing where it should because there’s wrong code before that widget. Quoting from my post:
“If a solitary div tag is accidentally introduced somewhere in a post or in a text widget, the structure of the page gets messed up from that point on.” What gets affected is the rest of the content. (So deleting “all the widgets that were appearing on the left-hand side” makes no difference: those widgets aren’t the cause of the problem, they are the result of the problem.)
Quoting from my post again:
“C. If you [… …], then the stray div tag is in a text widget.“
You need to open the widgets “Follow at Bloglovin” and “I’m an Independent Fashion Blogger” and delete this from the end:
Thank you. :-)
