Widgets Won't Work!

  1. I've been trying to add widgets: I've dragged them to the sidebar, but when I click on the arrows to the right nothing will open. Actually, none of these arrows will work for me. I've tried changing screen options for accesibility, but I can't access that either because of my arrow glitch. Help!

The blog I need help with is

  2. We can't help without a link to the blog, starting with http. For one thing, you could have chosen a theme that doesn't support widgets. We have to see.

  3. Sorry - I forgot I haven't linked to my gravatar.

  4. What browser and browser version are you using?

  5. I'm using internet explorer - no clue what version it is.

  6. It sounds like it might be version 6, but you will have to check in the help menu and click on "about internet explorer" to see for sure.

  7. it's version 7- is that incompatable with widgets?

  8. I have no problems with IE7 and widgets in general, but some have reported issues with it. Firefox is actually the most compliant browser when it comes to wordpress. You might download it and give it a try.

  9. I just logged in using my laptop and everything works fine! I'll just do that in the future - thanks for the help.

  11. I'm trying to add a Grammar Girl badge in widgets and it will not take. Any suggestions?
    My blog is:
I'm on a Macbook pro, Firefox

    The code is here:

    Thank you!

  12. Those widgets use shockwave flash, and flash is not allowed at wordpress.COM due to security concerns.

  13. That s fine - thanks.

  14. Right now widgets doesn't seems to work properly at my blog.
I tried to drag them to the sidebar but I can't and a few minutes ago everything was fine.
    I can't open then too.
I'm using Mozilla Firefox 3.5.2 and Windows XP pro.

  15. I'm also having trouble with the widgets and am using Firefox 3.5.2. I've tried it with IE 6 as well and no luck with that either.

  16. Hello, I have some problems with my widgets. They don't work. I use Internet Explorer 8.0.6 and Firefox 3.5.2 and I have the same problem. I can't remove or add any widget. My blog is I use Andreas04 theme. Thanks.

  17. I think that is a wordpress problem coz right now seems like a lot of users have the same problem as me.
I tried to use the latest version of IE but a message appears when I try to access my dashboard telling that IE can't open the site.
I hope they can fix it soon^^

  18. I try many themes and the problem is the same.

  19. neither my IE 7 or Firefox 3.5.2 work. I cannot even post today. No widgets, no posting, no dropdown arrows activating. A day off blogging it seems. And far from resolved except to all agree it is for the techs to handle now. *_*

    Same thing here.

I'm unable to add/move widgets and I'm also unable to perform the following tasks:
    - bulk edit
    - change post/page timestamp, visibility and status
    - add/remove tags
    - browse most used categories
    - choose tags from the most used tags cloud
    - clicking on the little arrow on each of the dashboard elements doesn't expand/collapse the element

My blog is and I'm using Firefox 3.5.2.

  21. We had a bug causing multiple problems. Should be fixed now.

  22. I am not able to move/add widgets. I'm using Firefox on a MacBook Pro and it seems that I'm missing a plugin. However, Firefox is not able to find it automatically and I have no clue. Is there a plugin I need? My blog is

  23. If you can't activate widgets by dragging, then (while on the widgets page) try clicking Screen Options and activating the "accessibility mode". This way you'll get a more reliable "Add" tab next to each widget name.

  24. That would be a viable solution if my Screen Options toggle worked, but it does nothing when I click it (the contextual help button does not work either).

Screen Options works on every admin page except the Widgets page. I can also drag and drop the sections on my Dashboard page, but I cannot drag and drop on the Widgets page.

The Widgets page is basically a dead zone where nothing is clickable (except the standard page items in the far left column). I see the exact same behavior in both Firefox 3.1 and in IE 7, both with and without plugins active.

When I click on the Widget Screen Options, the address bar shows:

The "#screen-options" portion of the URL does not show in the address bars of other pages with working screen options, so I think this a clue to the what is going wrong. WP is not processing the Screen Options URL like is should be.

  25. @kgrogan: Try this:

And please paste the exact URL of your blog when asking questions here, or link your nickname to your blog (as explained in the Sticky 8 Things to Know Before Posting). We usually need that to give a relevant answer.

  26. Hi, I'm trying to add a google latitude badge in widgets and it won't take, any help would be great.

  27. Paste it here between backticks so we can see what you're trying to add.
