Will hosting my blog from go.daddy help me monetize and publish ads?

    I have two questions:

    1. I would like to monetize my blog so if I host my wordpress blog from godaddy.com then will I be able to post ads on my blog?

    2. Once I do that will I be able to continue to post from my wordpress dashboard?

    Pls help. Thanks!

The blog I need help with is pickyc.wordpress.com.

    1. Yes (subject to any rules GoDaddy may have and that I would be unaware of).
    2. You’d sign into your own dashboard, not WordPress.com’s dashboard anymore.
For further assistance, please note there is a WordPress.org support forum at http://wordpress.org/support/

okay. What happens if I change the url to a ‘.com’ and continue to post from wordpress. WIll I be able to monetize then? Thank you! I am really confused.

No, you have to physically host your blog on a third-party hosting service.

If your blog is physically located (hosted) here at wordpress.COM, then no matter if you have your own domain name or not, you still have to play by the wordpress.COM rules.

One other note: The vast majority of bloggers who advertise will not typically make enough to cover their hosting costs for a year.

Also, more and more people are using adblocking plugins/add-ons in their browsers because they are tired of all the ads. I’ve been using them for a few years and virtually never see any ads. If one does slip through, I just right click and zap it and never see it again.
