If i get a wordpress domain, will I be able to make it .ca?
You would have to register it elsewhere. The registar they use here will only support *.com, *.net and *.org domains.
so once i registar it on like netfirms, then can i just put it in as an alternate domain and it will work?
Register it over at netfirms, tell netforms to use the wordpress nameservers, and then come over here and sign up at Dashboard -> Upgrades -> Domains. It’s ten bucks on this end for a year of mapping.
so it will actually cost me about $20 to have my own domain
If Netfirms is charging you ten for a domain for a year, then yes. Ten to them, and ten to wp.com.
