i’d say that there is o much to be learned before you can start doing anything on wordpress.
i wanted to know from the very beginning how to send emails and how people outside of worpress are going to contact me.

If you want people to be able to contact you, make a contact page on your blog: http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/05/13/how-do-i-make-a-contact-form/

If you want to offer email updates: http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/10/11/how-can-i-offer-email-updates/

Do not post your email address directly on your blog as the spammers will find it and flood you with spam. If you do list it, disguise it by doing something like: myemail [at] myisp [dot] com.

From the 1st place to look – the FAQs :)
How do I offer email updates?

    Is there a contact form?

Also, please do not post the same questions in multiple threads as it causes extra work for the volunteers here in the forums.

    {a duo – lol … ha! ha! ha!}

    wow-who are you
i saw you in loads of other forums

From the 1st place to look – the FAQs

I’m new to blogging. Where do I start?

    oh my god i’m bored
the instructions are 100 percent unclear and i get frustrated easily because i have zero patience could anyone in the forum go step-by-step ith me on how to publish work
    is the publish ‘genuine’

    hello-anybody there ! ?

Set your boredom aside and do some watching. There are links to tubetorials on how to post and select a theme, etc. Beginner’s Guide

    gee–i feel so enlightened–NOT !
I’M GOING TO BED SO I GUESS THIS FORUM WILL SAY ‘not resolved’ until tomorrow afternoon
all i want is to publish my photographs !! AAH !!
people comntinuosly send me unhelpful links
this is such a slap in the face
anyhow–if you could-please explain the directions for publishing in a simple manner i could continue this or read them on the forum tomorrow

all i want is to publish my photographs

    How do I upload pictures?

@maegilder. You might want to remember that everyone who posts on the forums is a volunteer simply trying to help, before you write them off as a slap in the face.

Using a WP blog is not difficult, but you do need to take the trouble to read through the FAQ’s carefully and follow the instructions there. These are the ‘step-by-step’ guides. It’s not anyone else’s fault if you don’t have the patience to do this.

I don’t know what you mean by ‘is the publish genuine?’. When you press ‘Publish’ your post will appear on your blog.

WordPress.com is a blogging service and not an email service. You create entries (like your last one) as if it was a journal. Then people that know your blog URL ( http://maegilder.wordpress.com/ ) can come visit you and leave comments on your entries if they see fit. Other than the posts above with the contact forms that redirect messages to your email, those are the main ways to communicate with wordpress.com.

People are giving you great reads as well, but if you have a specific question, please ask again with as much detail as possible and we can work through your questions 1 at a time if you need it! We are just trying to help you, so upsetting those trying to help you will get you less ahead than trying to work with us.

If you do not know how to email I’m afraid we can’t really help you.

My response usually to people who say, “I don’t know how to do it” is: can you read?

I get the impression he expected his mommy to do everything for him as well.

We as are of one mind in this.

Which should not be understood to muddy the processes of anyone else. It’s just us two.

I found WordPress a challenge at first (one week ago today); turned out that most or all of my difficulty was due to incompatibility with my IE/MSN browsers. Once in Firefox (thanks to these forums and timethief), I can more completely view and use the options, so I’m flying. God knows I have much yet to learn, but I now know enough to see that it’s not that complicated (or I know enough to be dangerous!). One thing I learned as a noob on dozens of forums: search first, then ask, and ask nicely!

maegilder…I can’t believe I’m reading this! You’ve posted a question, had three very relevant, helpful, and, if I’m honest, very simple to follow faq guides suggested to you, and you’re not happy!

You’d given up within 20 minutes of your original post, so you blatantly haven’t really made an effort to read, understand or try out the advice within them. If someone had started to do an idiots guide just for you, by the time they’d have posted it for you it would have been a waste of time as you’d already gone.

WordPress isn’t the most intuitive to use but once you make an effort and research things everything falls into place. I’ve got two authors that contribute to my blog and neither of them have any experience of blogging, and after a little effort and perseverance they now get on fine with it.

wow-yall ain’t had to get all upset–
i ain’t wrote no body a slap in the face–
i said “this” is a slap in the face. the only question i had was how i can publish my photographs. i am in total agreement of making an idiots thingy to get me to understand
thanks for you people who voluneer to help me
