wordpress not main page, permalinks wrong

I have added a wordpress blog to the website I’m just starting up but it isn’t the main page (http://working-with.ca versus http://working-with.ca/blog).

The front page of the blog is fine but as soon as you try to click a link, it returns to working-with.ca/[permalink] rather than links on the blog page.

I have tried changing the permalinks to a custom “/blog/%post_id%/” but it said never to have url address in that field and (obviously) didn’t work.

How can I change the blog’s assumption that the address it can permalink through is working-with.ca/blog, not just working-with.ca?
