What happens when you try to access it?
When I click on Dashboard, Site Stats, New Post, Manage Comments, or just about anything else with the exception of Get Support and Read Blog, the browser thinks for a second and then remains on my blog main page.
Log out, clear your browser cache and cookies, restart your browser and then try again. Typically that fixes dashboard issues.
and while you’re at it, shorten your front page. It is enormous and has high-res images and all kinds of stuff. Just change your settings so that there are fewer posts on the page: loading all of that stuff is part of your problem.
You change the number of posts at settings > reading.
Ok, I logged out, cleared the browser cache and cookies, restarted the browser twice and it did not work.
I would change the number of posts per page, but I can no longer get in to settings > reading or anything else.
My pages have been like this for two years with no problems so I’m thinking the problem is probably something else.
Then I suggest you contact staff. Make sure first of all that WordPress is in your Safe Site list and you haven’t recently updated your security stuff. Sometimes that causes this.
@mrbisogno, have you tried a different browser to see if it is browser related?
Lastly, head over to http://www.adobe.com/ and make sure you are running the lastest version of flash.
I was using Safari. At your suggestion, I just tried Firefox and it is woking so I guess the problem is browser related.
What should be my next step to get it going in Safari again? Java script is enabled. I have no script blocking add-on, and I went to Adobe and loaded the latest flash player for Mac. The back end is still not working.
Is their a Safe Site list in Safari? I have not tried that yet.
I will contact staff. Just want to try everything I can before that. Thanks for all the help.
I’m using Safari and having no issues, so I’m not sure what to suggest. Do you have any extensions installed in Safari?
There really isn’t any “safe site” thing in Safari – at least not that I’ve ever seen.
Staff have been tinkering and updating some stuff, so there is no telling what strangeness we might all experience for a day or two (depending on how well debugged things were before the scattered them around).
No, I do not have any extensions installed in Safari.
I changed my page sizes to 20 posts instead of 30.
I will contact staff about this.
I feel much better now knowing that I can still work on my blog in Firefox in the mean time.
I really appreciate all the help.
You are welcome, and I might even suggest dropping back to 10 posts since you use images in nearly every post. Not only does it take a while for your site to load (still) but search engines now consider page total size and page loading times when calculating search engine ranking and slow sites with large total sizes get their search engine ranking discounted.
I will do that.
By the way. The back end, or whatever it’s called has stopped working in Firefox also (since about 5 minutes ago).
