Need help? Check out our Support site, then for personal commercial use?

  1. I would like to create a site using to use to sell some crafts that I've been making. This wouldn't be a business, just a way to get a little money from my hobbies. Is this permissible using this site? I tried reading through the Terms of Service (cute treat, BTW) and searching this forum, with no luck. While I couldn't find anything specifically forbidding it, I also couldn't find anything specifically allowing it, so I thought it better to ask ahead of time.

  2. In a nutshell no blogger initiated advertising, retailing or reselling the work created or services provided by anyone other than yourself is allowed on free hosted wordpress.COM blogs. E-commerce transactions via shopping carts and the like cannot be conducted on free blogs from and being free hosted by wordpress.COM

The advertising exceptions noted in support documentation are for high traffic blogs that qualify for and are accepted into the Ad Control program, and for extremely high traffic blogs that qualify and are accepted into the paid VIP hosting program.

  3. That doesn't make it clear whether it is OK to list my prices for work shown (specially as I don't understand some of the jargon!). I too would like to know about this.
Supposing I want to sell a print and I put the price on and invite potential buyers to contact me that against the rules. I am not sure I want to, but I have been thinking about it.
    Thanks. Julia

  4. The best thing in this case would be to get in touch with staff via the contact form, since forum volunteers aren't in a position to rule on what would be acceptable and what wouldn't.

  5. How to i create place for marketing on blog and like facebook page on my blog on wordpress?

  6. @matcham1
As wank points out contacting Staff is the way to go. We Volunteers don't make such calls. That being said, I see many bloggers selling their own work and what you describe is not likely to be considered to be a violation of any policies here.

  7. @timethief and wank: Thanks for the suggestion - I've just contacted the staff.

@matcham1: I'll post back here when I get a response from the staff on this question.

  8. Ok, I've heard back from the staff (and wow, was that a fast response).

"That would be fine. You may sell items on your blog as long as you don't violate the Terms of Service. For example, we don't allow multi-level marketing or things like that. This page is a good guide: "

So, matcham1, my understanding is that if you keep it simple you should be fine offering prices on your own work. If you still have any doubts, though, you should definitely contact the staff yourself.

  9. As I provided all links to relevant information I'm not surprised by the quick answer lol :D

  10. Maybe not, but it's still gratifying! Thanks for your help, timethief. :)

  11. It's always great when people get a positive answer to what they plan to do with their blogs. You're welcome and best wishes for happy blogging. :)

  12. Thanks! :D

  13. Thanks ...all! Julia
