WP changed format of my pictures? – Why??
-
Hello!
I just discovered that in some of my posts the size of the pictures has changed without that I did anything. Now it looks quite ugly…
I tried to undo the changes by manuelly checking the settings of the pictures, but they pretend to be in the right size, but nevertheless they don’t have the correct size in the blog…
I don’t now how long this is like that, but it seems to affect quite a lot of my articles :-(
Anyone an idea?

To give you a meaning what I am talking about:
The picture size is 100% although it should be 90%:
The first picture is far too large, the second one is vertical format instead of horizontal format and it contains just a part of the picture:

I’ve tagged this thread to have it moved to the themes forum since it looks like staff have done some tweaking and either the images are now presented at the wrong size, or the caption background/border area has been tweaked and made smaller.

Thank you.
What I found out by now is that my own code – i.e. the one that I am editing in my dashboard – is not effected. It looks like this:[caption id="attachment_1655" align="aligncenter" width="405" caption="Auf solchen Wegen könnte ich stundenlang wandern... Und das beste: es geht bergauf...!"]<img class="size-full wp-image-1655 " title="Im Wald" src="http://brevlada.files.wordpress.com/2011/11/im-wald.jpg" alt="" width="405" height="540" />[/caption]
The resulting code however changes the numbers:
<div id="attachment_1655" class="wp-caption aligncenter" style="width: 415px;"><img class="size-full wp-image-1655 " title="Im Wald" src="http://brevlada.files.wordpress.com/2011/11/im-wald.jpg?w=450" alt=""><p class="wp-caption-text">Auf solchen Wegen könnte ich stundenlang wandern... Und das beste: es geht bergauf...!</p></div>
The size of the image has been changed from 405 px width to 450 px width.

It sounds like the same problem that I’m having. I just logged on and noticed that when you go to any of my post that pictures are all huge. I had them down to a size I wanted but now they are all full size for some reason. It must be another bug in the system because this happened before like a couple of months ago.
Here is one of my post as you can see with the size being out of whack it now looks awful.

I am having the same problem. Many of my photos are showing up 100% even though the code says they are sized smaller.
Thanks.

Its weird because I just went to edit and it looks the way it is suppose to there but for whatever reason it comes out huge the way the public sees it.

All fixed. This was the combination of a new feature meant to help show images as wide as they can be (in proper context), especially when switching themes, and a WordPress bug we’ve had fixed in WP 3.3.
The issue is that your images still had the size-full css class, despite having been resized down via HTML attributes (whether you had typed the values or used the image editing/embedding tools in the editor).
We just had to run a script on your site to get that all fixed up. You can now see your images displayed exactly as you had intended. :)

I am having the same problem. Photos are showing up much smaller than coded. http://kissmyspatula.com/. Thanks.

Thank you very much for the quick help! Now my blog is just the way it should be again.
(And I got more traffic than usual during the last few hours :-)) -
Can you please help me? About half of my photos are super large and making everything look funky too.

@all: You won’t have such problems if you take care to upload images presized to the right dimensions instead of letting WP do the downsizing. For example, the latest image in http://jellomoldmistress.com/ is 4416px wide, resolution 300dpi. Resizing issues and bugs aside, there’s no point uploading such huge files when the theme of that blog displays them at 550px maximum and when browsers use resolution 72: you’re simply wasting your storage space and increasing the loading time of your pages.

kissmyspatula and afpulp, you’re all fixed up now.
helar, what is the URL of the blog you’re having trouble with?
