WP Easter Eggs
The smoke has settled, most of the debris removed, we’re back online, and someone stuck new little Easter eggs in our baskets. (I’m guessing Matt.) Here’s a quick rundown of the ones I’ve found so far:
- Feed Stats
- Very Cool, nice touch
- Pages no longer categorized
- Good idea and thanks
- Unfortunately, default uncategorized tag still appears on pages
- Good idea and thanks
A little remaining debris for cleanup:
- Sidebar Widget seems to have frozen up
- Search is comepletely gone from it
- Still can’t reorder links
Anyway, just a thank you to Matt for all the hard work.
a big thank you to the wordpress people for the swift recovery of our blogs and additions of widgets to the regulus theme which i am using – binarymoon said it should be available in a week or three’s time. the widgets are excellent, but not without some imperfections.
1. the bulleted forms to distinguish widgets are fine, but it doesn’t look as good when the about box (from the regulus theme options) and calendar are bulleted as well.
2. the previous purple bar which clearly separates posts is gone now, much to my dismay. it looks better with the purple bar, whr it used to place the author’s identity and the comments, instead of after the post title.
3. the fact that we can choose our own header is fantastic, but ppl like me who are pretty lousy in html and blogging intricacies, we would just rather pick one from the options instead of being frustrated when the header doesn’t turn out right and asking for help in the forum. that said, perhaps more choices of headers in the options?
just minor gripes, really. thanks again for the wonderful job the regulus creator and wordpress is doing!
I noticed some changes were made to the Regulus Theme. I really like the new ability to add a customized image for the image header. I also like the addition of the widgets to this blog. However, there are a few changes that are bugging me a little. First, when one creates an indented quotation in this theme, there is now a huge quotation mark that appears to the left of the quotation that was not present before. Is there anyway that this feature could be turned on and off by the user? Second, I am also not a fan of how the categories, the name of the poster, and the comments link all appear above each post now instead of below. Third, I believe that there is one additional improvement that would be made to this theme, which is to allow the customized image for the header to be uploaded directly to the WordPress website instead of having to link to a separate location. Thanks for all of the good work that you all do by constantly making adjustments to your services. This is really a great place to have a blog!

I totally agree with this. I don’t have easy access to a place to store the image.
meantime, the easy workaround is to upload header image into the post/page and use that URI it will have.
but thr’s lots of image hosting websites aren’t thr? photobucket and flickr and all… just store the image thr and get the link from thr
I just switched from the “Silver is the New Black” theme to “Regulus” and uploaded the image I wanted through the Write Post/Page. There’s no problems that I can see.

You know – I saw both of these last night when I accessed my site from my laptop (using Mozilla). This morning, I accessed my blog from my desktop (also using Mozilla) and the big quote mark was gone and the lines were back. I figured maybe the foolks here heard you. Now I’m back on my laptop – and back is the large quote mark and no lines.
Can somebody explain to my why this is the case? Is it a function of the monitor resolution or something?
OK so just for grins, I checked the screen resolution on both machines. They are different. Then I looked at the site on my desktop – and the large quote sign is back and the lines are gone. So it must have been something they were working on today.
I also love the fact that I can customize my Regulus theme. Nonetheless, I would appreciate if the guys could allow us to change also the color set for links and page labels. My header is black (otherwise i could not see the blog’s title) and the page labels are dark blue… it’s not that classy this way, dont you agree?
The quotation marks are a new feature introduced by the original designer:
No theme is ever going to be perfect, and if the keymasters make changes to please some people it’ll only disappoint others who preferred things as they were. I would like my links to match the colour scheme too; but I appreciate that many people would hate that idea, and that coding in yet another option would be time better spent adding options to themes which currently have none at all.
