WP Video Player

“Can I change how the WordPress Video Player looks?
With Custom CSS you can change the styling of the video player a little, but most of the “look” is in the flash file itself.”
What exactly can be changed? How?
Thanks in advance.

You would be able to format just the parts around the player. The player itself (much like the portion you see in youtube) is flash driven and hardcoded. I don’t know for sure, but I doubt if much can be changed about the player. Anyone successfully changed anything on the player with CSS?

And what parts are that? I mean… I guess it’s obvious that I can edit that “external” things, but for the reference on the FAQ (“change the styling of the video player”), I thought “something” else could be edited, meaning some thing of the player itself. I also noticed that it’s most of it flash, so I was wondering if that “change in the styling” is really possible.
So again, if anyone could change anything or knows how to do it or knows that nothing can be changed…
Thanks.

The player itself is flash driven and hardcoded. You can css customize the style sheet for the theme but you cannot, as far as I know, change the appearance of the video player.

OK, then I guess the FAQ is not 100% clear on that point.
Then please send in a feedback pointing that out to staff and explaining what the issue is. If you don’t it’s just more problems down the road.

One thing that you can easily change is the size of the WP video player. Which you can’t do with YouTube, googlevideo or dailymotion.

After uploading a video, WP then encodes it to a WP-video. That video will be posted by a very simple number, for example [video 385 w=400]. Here, the 385 simply identifies your specific video. The w=400 is the width of the video, which can be changed. For example, I like my videos to be a bit larger, so I use 500, as in [video 385 w=500].
