WP video won't play in post

  1. The video 'preview' in media library plays beautifully. However, I have followed your instruction and can't get the video to play in the post. Immediately after it was published, it played a few seconds and then no more. Have updated many times and tried on iMac / safari as well as PC / Firefox.
    The video is located here:
What am I missing? Thank you.

  2. Hello Wambui,
I can help you now. I know that for the past 24hours you have been obsessed with trying to get the videopress videos to work. No one responded to your cry for help? Well, I figured out. It wasn't easy. However, here is what they failed to mention. You must go to the 'dashboard', - go to 'settings', - go to 'media' (in the settings group), on the media settings page, look for these words: "Only display videos in free software formats". UN-check the box next to this phrase. Make sure this box is NOT checked. Refresh everything. Wait a minute or two for things to process. Your videos should play beautifully now!

  3. Thank you! You are a Genius! I thought I looked every where, but I could not find that detail. I appreciate your help.

  4. I'm happy to know you found the solution because we Volunteers are still answering questions that are dated 2 days ago.

  5. Hello timethief,
I was just having a converstion with myself. Yes. I figured out. never saw that support page until you pointed it out. Thanks.

  6. Happy chatting ;)

  7. Thanks again for being there. Thanks to all the volunteers!

  8. PEACE-

  9. I followed these instructions but that box was not even checked in the first place in my setting. The videos on my site upload fine and play back the audio just fine but the screen stays black, there is no visual. How do I correct this. I have an active Value Bundle with Word Press and running on Windows 8.

Please post an active link starting with http:// to the post or page that has this issue.

  11. ""Posting into more than one thread does not mean you get attention any more quickly and can result in falling through the cracks. Please return to and answer me there. ""

Didn't mean to stir anything up but after browsing several other blogs and finding their videos have the same issue I feel like the problem needs some serious attention, especially for paying customers of Word Press. At least a dedicated trouble shooter for video issues - then we would not feel the need to double park in forums. I just want to fix the problem.

  12. I didn't want your issue to get lost. I'm still waiting for your to post the URL of the exact post or page with the issue in it. I just viewed and it works properly in Firefox 19. I'll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

In the meanwhile please try troubleshooting and provide reports on what follows so Staff are clearly aware what your computing environment is?

If you are not running one of the browsers and versions listed at please try upgrading or switching first.

Note: If you are using an IE9 browser in compatibility mode that makes it render as IE7 and IE7 is not supported. To disable see >

If you are running one of the browsers and versions listed at please do these four things:

    1. Try clearing your browser’s cache:

    2. Make sure that you have third-party cookies enabled:

    3. Try with all browser extensions or add-ons temporarily disabled.

    4. Try enabling HTTPS:

If it’s still happening, let us know exactly which browser (and version of it) you’re using by checking here if necessary and also post any error reports you get.

  13. I will check all of these things but I am curious about one thing. Why do videos that will play from any source I choose on the browser I am using not play when uploaded to a word press site? Seems a little odd.

  14. My bad on the response, there are only two videos on my site at the moment and neither of them played for me. The one you have the link for is one of them.

  15. Just checked and I am running IE 10. This is also on the list at browse happy. I did all four of the items listed in your post and the videos will still not play visuals.

  16. I took a look and everything is working properly. Do you also encounter this issue in a different browser? for example Firefox or Google Chrome?

Otherwise send us a screenshot of the page where you're seeing this issue. You can upload the screenshot your blog's media library.

Here is the link to the screenshot. This video is the one on the Horror Games page at:

As you can see the video is 53 sec in and no visual. I can scroll through the whole video with same results. If I hold the left mouse button down over the timer it will show that seen on the screen but freezes the video. Not sure what is going on or how to fix it.

I am not interested in the least in switching through different browsers just to play video here. IE works fine with video everywhere and switching browsers always leads into new problems.

  18. The video works fine on your blog so testing a different browser is just to rule out it's an IE issue. Have you tried to see if you can encounter the same issue on a different computer? or on a different connection?

  19. Me too .. I need help on this subject thanks
