I have two WP.com blog accounts, one is a few months old, and the other I just created. I want to transfer all of the content from my first blog account to my new one. I’ve gone through the motions of exporting the WP file from blog #1 and importing into blog #2. Unfortunately, only 2 or 3 posts actually transfer. (But oddly, all of my categories appear after the import.) I only have around 16 posts in total that I’m trying to transfer, so I don’t think it’s a matter of exceeding some transfer limit. Any ideas? Thanks!

    Some details would help.

How big is the import file? (I know you say that’s probably not the cause but lets so ahead and check that)

When you do thet import, what are you seeing on the screen? Does it list the posts? Do you get some sort of error? What specifically are you seeing?

Can you open up the *.xml file and see if your posts are in there please?

    Thanks for responding, drmike.

The exported file is 95KB. All of the posts are listed in the .xml file; it appears complete.

After performing the import, when I reached the Assign Authors page, I continually received “503 Service Unavailable The server is temporarily busy, try again later!” messages.

Once finally successful, I got a screen that implied the file was succcessfully imported. However, only 3 of the original posts are reflected.

    Thanks, again!

hmm… I just realized the only posts that uploaded were ones that did not originally have pictures included as part of the post. Any ideas what I need to do? (Please don’t say I have to delete the pictures.)

    Shouldn’t.

Gotta admit that I’m at a loss on this one without seeing the import file and trying it myself.

And that’s probably a privacy violation around here.

Best bet would be to contact staff via feedback from your dashboard, tell them what’s going on with specifics and see if they can help.

Very odd. My best suggestion for 16 posts is just to copy and paste.

hello!i just open few days ago another blog at speedyblogger.com and i’ve problems with the import files from a wordpress export file.when i click on wordpress it shows that:
Howdy! Upload your WordPress eXtended RSS (WXR) file and we’ll import the posts, comments, custom fields, and categories into this blog.

Choose a WordPress WXR file to upload, then click Upload file and import.

Warning: Missing argument 1 for upload_is_user_over_quota(), called in /home/clarkcou/public_html/speedyblogger/wp-content/mu-plugins/misc.php on line 136 and defined in /home/clarkcou/public_html/speedyblogger/wp-content/mu-plugins/misc.php on line 64

Choose a file from your computer: (Maximum size: 0 )
the question is why the size is 0?anyhow after i upload de export file it shows that:
The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini.
can anybody help me how 2 manage?

Same probem same message of “503 Service Unavailable The server is temporarily busy, try again later!”

The file is 998 Kb so I think that is not a problem.
It does not open with Word.

Should I use a text only program like Notepad?
Ahwt should I do. The export function shoudl ask us how many entries so we can create a small file.

same problem, trying to move posts from one wp blog to another and not all posts transfer. When I open up my file there is an error message at the bottom…..
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet.
Please correct the error and then click the
Refresh button, or try again later.
