Wrong page loaded

Wrong page is being published. I have 2 pages called ‘Courses’ one is under ‘Classes’ & the other under ‘meditation’. However, for some reason just recently it is showing under both of these the meditation course page, not my classes one. When I enter the dashboard to check it, the right page is there, but it is publishing the wrong one. Does anyone know what I can do?

The blog I need help with is joyyoga.com.au.

You are referring to static pages that will not automatically update.

    (1) There is only one page we can post to in any blog and
    (2) The static pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ we bloggers create do not automatically update.

Only the dynamic pages like Archives, Categories and Tags created by the software when we publish a post will update automatically update with new posts.

By default the front page of the blog is the post that displays all posts in your blog. You can create a static front page but doing that does not change what follows.

Though there is only one dynamic page in a blog for posts (not pages) http://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ and we cannot post to more than that one page, we can create the appearance that we have posted to more than one page.

We organize posts by assigning categories to them. You can create a custom menu and add the dynamic categories pages into the custom menu.

We can also add other items into a custom menu like static Pages http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/#adding-pages but as I said above no static Pages will ever automatically update.

There are many common errors, misunderstandings and misconceptions when creating custom menus and there are some tweaks you can use to improve your custom menu as well.

    Thanks for your reply.

However, I don’t see why I shouldn’t be able to update information on each of my pages. I am not usually changing the bulk of the information (though sometimes I do). With that said though, this problem isn’t that it isn’t up-dating the page, the page on my edit page looks fine. It is actually posting a completely different page, copying it from another completely different page. This shouldn’t happen, even if it is a static page. How can I stop it from doing that?

If the static pages (which make up the most of my site) don’t update when I make a change to them, then this site is going to be of no use to me. I pay $99 a year for this & if it doesn’t let me update information, I will have to consider changing website.

If you have any other suggestions I would be grateful.

If you give us the EXACT links to each page stating what should be on each and highlighting what is on the page and should not be, we can help you sort this out.

You need to go to Appearance > Menus and correct the custom menu you are using.

Thank you. I am not very technically minded & I can’t work it out. I looked that the Appearance>menus, but it all looks as though it should be right. Even on my edit page, is says the Parent page is the right one, its just showing the wrong one.
So Raincoaster, I’m unsure what links to give, as I need to give you my edit page link, as that’s the only place to find the page. That is http://joyyogablog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=212&action=edit
This is the page that should be showing in the drop down menu in my ‘courses’ Parent page is “Classes”. Instead it is showing: http://joyyogablog.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=193&action=edit
Is website page for this is: http://joyyoga.com.au/meditation/courses/
I can’t give you the Courses page for the classes, as it is the above instead.
Which is the ‘course’ page for its parent page “Meditation”.

Not sure if I’ve given you the right info. Please let me know if you need something else. Not even sure if you can enter on edit page?

So just to be clear. There is no way for me to safely up-date these pages?

    a) We volunteers cannot access your dashboard pages.
    b) Updating the content of your pages has nothing to do with what the top menu displays or links to. As I said in my previous reply, the problem is in your custom menu. You created the problem yourself, because you gave the same title to both pages, so you couldn’t tell which one is which in Appearance > Menus, and apparently you added the same item under both “Classes” and “Meditation”.
If you go to Appearance > Menus, you should see an indented item under “Classes” and another indented item under “Meditation”. You need to delete the wrong one, add the correct one, drag it in place, save.
Things will be easier if you first go to Pages > All Pages and edit the one of the two pages to temporarily change its title.

Nice simply solution, I just changed its name. Yay!
