Youtube Videos Embedded in Blog

  1. I cannot get youtube videos to embed into my blog. I have done it before and it used to work fine. Now nothing happens when I embed the link (yes I follow the simple instructions to a "T"). Vimeo works just fine but that's not my preferred video site. Has anyone else experienced this technical glitch recently? Is there anything that can be done or is this a wordpress issue?

The blog I need help with is

  2. I have seen various threads with people embedding google maps at the moment. Maybe either there is a problem at wordpress or Google has changed the way embedding works.

  3. interesting. either way i would love to hear back from wordpress....they are not responding to any of my messages regarding this issue

  4. I'm having the same issue. Older posts with youtube embeds on my blog still work fine, but unable to duplicate.

Have you folks tried using the video short codes?

  6. I successfully embedded two YouTube videos just a few hours ago in my latest post. The videos work as far as I can see. Even the "no link" code I added to the short code works

  7. shimworld can you clarify what the no link code means?

Yes i tried the short code and it still doesn't work. On another note...does anyone know how to get the attention of wordpress to help with these kind of issues? Still no response from their support team from the message i sent two days ago

    Hello there,
I'm using Firefox 7.0.1 and I have no difficulty at all with using the short codes in the support docs. That makes me think you may have an issue that troubleshooting may clear up.

How are you connecting to the internet and to The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers.

Are you using http:// or https:// see

Which browser and version of it are you using? Have your tried clearing your browser cache and cookies?

Is your browser version up to date? You can upgrade any browser version here.

Do you have third party cookies enabled? Do you have another browser you can try?

You can use this link to see if your Flash is up to date. If it’s not up to date then this is where to download and install the latest version of Flash.

You know how after a YouTube video has finished playing you're presented with a menu of related video links? Some of us don't like that and I'm one of them so there's a code you can add to the end of the short code "&rel=0"

  10. shimworld and timethief thank you so much for taking time to make comments and suggestions. That was very helpful. After hours of tinkering with this I found a solution that worked for me and hopefully can help someone else as well.

Instead of copying the link for my video directly from the top of my internet explorer page, I waited until the youtube video ended and then right clicked and copied the link from the button that appears in the middle of the video screen. For whatever reason the embedding code worked properly when I copied that link.

It doesn't make sense and it's not the way I did it with my older videos on my blog but it works!

I'm happy to hear you resolved this. Best wishes with your blogging. :)

  12. I was having the same probelem. Sometimes the videos embedded properly - sometimes not. When I put in the short code by copying the URL and then modifying it, the link disappeared altogether. Finally, I typed in the URL instead of pasting it and VOILA! That worked.

  13. Wrong again. That worked for me on one post but now I can't reproduce it. Again, when I follow the instrucitons for short code the link disappears completely.

Is this the blog in question?
If so then I see a youtube in your latest paste dated October 8, 2011 > Costa Rica’s Gift of Happiness, so I assume you have resolved this issue.
