    1. What happened to the age-old suggestion of you.WP.COM? If what Matt says is really true (http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2009/04/24/wpcom/), then we should simply have shorter domain names too!

    2. Have different types of pages, modelled on other blogging sites? One great example is Tumblr’s “Ask me anything”, an excellent question form great for personal and even corporates sites.

    3. Have a Chatbox widget! :)

The blog I need help with is yongsheng.wordpress.com.

2 and 3 already exist. 3 has existed for about four years.

Right now there’s the Meebo chat widget, but Meebo is dying. You can also use Google Talk http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/tag/google-talk/ .

Some themes have different page templates. You can use the Theme Filter to find which ones do. Of course, we also have the Contact Form, which is more elaborate than Tumblr’s Ask box.

    yup, thanks again.
it might have been around for 4 years, but meebo is scheduled for removal in 2 weeks time, and google talk isn’t exactly what we’ll call a “close” substitute for a multi-user, leave-a-message chatbox, is it?

and of course, contact forms are great too, but the questions are made private, not public

But that’s the same with the Ask box at Tumblr.

I think, sometimes, Matt has second thoughts about this first thoughts. It makes a lot more sense for the business, for example, to have you.wordpress.com on a business card.

FWIW: both http://wp.com/ and http://wp.me/ take me to the new dashboard, and every post has its own WP.me shortlink.

Personally I’m waiting for the “Random Blog” button to make a comeback, I know Matt thought that was a good idea.
