    Ok hi nest opinions please!

Do we like this version of About Me better than the one I posted a few hours ago? If you didn’t see the first one, it had no images at all in it. Now I’ve punctuated the text with small iconic images to illustrate the text. I have edited out three sentences too from the beginning and the end on the advice of today’s challenge. I really don’t know if I like it or if it’s better than the text-only version so will value your options greatly, here or on my blog x

@timethief – I think you mentioned deciding to use a pseudonym for your blog, and I’m considering that for a new blog. I am a bit stumped about how I would create a different gravatar, and I’ve looked through some of the gravatar support docs, still confused. Do you have a suggestion for where I might find that information?

@michelleweber – maybe we are going to have the gravatar topic later in Zero to Hero – if so, I can wait until then.

    _Thanks in advance!_

@alexandraneedham, hang in there! I’m also feeling sluggish about designing a new About page – feels a bit overwhelming to redo it! But I had a fun time adding one new element, the display posts command. Maybe there’s something like that which would appeal to you?

Here is my about page! Let me know what you think!

I’d be very grateful for any feedback on my About page.

I’ve tried to alter it, but found it very difficult to do so without feeling ‘fake’. It reflects the content of my blog, I think. I also added a Testimonials page which was going to be my ‘About’ text widget, but I preferred the look of my blog with my Gravatar in the sidebar, so I left it like that.

Every blog has a sole owner and it is the person with the username account who registered the blog under that username account and associated email address. Every username account can have only single gravatar that will display on all blogs registered under that same username account.

    Log out of WordPress.com.
Clear your browser cache and cookies.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clear-your-cache-and-cookies
Without logging in, register another username account with a different email address.
Register the new blog under it.

NOTE: You will have to get used to logging out of one username account, clearing your browser cache and cookies and logging in under the other one. This comes with the territory of having more than one username account.

You will also have to be cautious about remaining undetected under your pseudonym so it does not reveal any connection to your first username account.

Woohoo! Another fun challenge since I missed yesterday’s. I tweaked my About Page again as well as the Text widget on my home page. I’ve always believed less is more so added a few more tidbits. Appreciate feedback, thank you!

I like it bigtime! I do have suggestions if you are open to them.

    1. You could include a blog description on your about page. Take a look at either of mine to see what I mean. This may help wif you want to do that Creating an Effective Blog Description

You have not done any text wrapping and the images look weird centered all by themselves on a line alone. You can imporve the appearance easily by working through this step by step.

See here first please > http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#alignment

The alignment icons in the WordPress editor are for aligning text; they are not for aligning images. They are used to achieve wrapping text around images on either the right or left hand side, or to display an image that’s centered without text on either side of it.

Align-left means position left, with the rest of the content wrapping around the right side of the image.

Align-right means position right, with the rest of the content wrapping around the left side of the image.

Align-center means position center, with no wrap-around (= the rest of the content below the image).

IMPORTANT NOTE: If the text beside the images does not occupy the same amount of space that the image beside it does then the text wrapping will continue and the images and text that follow will have a staggered appearance.

To prevent the staggered effect what you do is insert the following snippet of code into the Text (HTML) editor after each image/text pair:
    <div style="clear:both;"></div>

If you don’t want to do the text wrapping around images then as an alternative I suggest that you could remove the images from the post and create a gallery mosaic for the post instead. http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/

There is no About page on your site and I’m thinking it’s time to stop using this thread to promote what does not exist. Yes, you are a humor blogger but … please.

Does anyone know? I get likes on my blog and their names show up but it doesn’t have a follow link, or a link to anything…it’s just a black name with a profile picture.

Who are those people? I don’t mind them liking an stuff I just want to know why I can’t see their blog..or if they even have one.

WordPress.com and Gravatar are both owned by Automattic and are together forever. As Gravatars are universal and there are folks who register them who do not have a WordPress.com blog or in fact any blog, they have the ability to click “like” buttons just as those with WordPress.com accounts and blogs do. When the holder of either account does not choose to upload a Gravatar then there will be none displayed when they click a like button. So be aware that every like button clicker is not a WordPress.com blogger. In fact many are commercial opportunists who click like buttons to get their Gravatar displayed on our blogs so our visitors will visit their Gravatar profile pages and click into their commercial sites.

To enable Gravatar display on your own blog, choose the rating of Gravatars you will display on comments and to enable hovercard display on your own blog go to > Settings > Discussion and scroll way done the page to “Avatars”.
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/gravatar-hovercards/

To change any of your own information on your Gravatar page you can go to Dashboard > Users > My Profile.

    Gold stars for both. :)

Look closely at this URL please:
    http://linkingloops.wordpress.com/about-me-2/

If you go to your Trash and permanently delete your first About me page you can then edit your new About me page and remove the “2” from the page slug. The software is supplying that because the first About page has not been permanently deleted.

@tjbarkerseattle, we don’t have a specific Gravatar-focused task coming up, but @timethief‘s given you plenty of good info.

Its always a good idea to look over how you present yourself. I’m looking my about page over again. Will post again when updated.

I had a seriously difficult time with this one, and plan on revisiting it in the near future. For now, I’m just glad I got something down.

Updated my “about me” page. I like the changes I made, but it seems a little too short. What do you think? Is there a way I can remove the header so it doesn’t overpower the rest of the page since I don’t have much text?

    I appreciate any feedback!

Your About Myself page gets a thumbs up from me. I’m a retired paralegal and I like travel blogs. I clicked the like button while logged in as timethief here but tweeted under my other username account thistimethisspace to which thistimespace is the linked twitter account.
