Versatile writer and agile editor since 1986. As a writer, my topics include rock and classical music, politics and current events, food, film, history, true crime, medical technology, and personal profiles. As an editor, I'm comfortable with the nuts-and-bolts mechanics as well as the big-picture aspects of magazine publication. I specialize in developing new writers, helping them find their voice and encouraging them to higher levels of professionalism. I am well versed in publication make-overs. In my last position, I grew a 20-page two-color newsletter for 2,000 members of an association of paralyzed veterans in greater New York City to a 48-page four-color newsmagazine for a national audience of 13,000 people of all ages with spinal cord disorders. I was also responsible for providing content to the online version of the magazine (http://www.unitedspinal.org/publications/action), monitoring its stats and tweaking to increase viewership.
