Welcome! And thank you for taking interest in my blog. This blog has been called leen pockets for a reason! So far on my weight loss journey, I have lost 26 pounds, and the majority of that weight loss was from eating right! I want this blog to be about eating, and living healthy. I will update daily workouts as well as tips and tricks that have worked for me in the past. Also, I want to write about different healthy recipes that can be done on a college budget. I want to show everyone that just because something is healthy, doesn't mean it can't be tasty and full-filling!! I take pride in the creations that I come up with, and I thank the people that I get my base recipes from! I have always loved to decorate, it has become fun for me to come up with the cheapest, cutest ways to upgrade, renovate, or make things beautiful! I wanted to combine all these great hobbies of mine into one blog! I hope you all enjoy. Here is a little about me: My name is Monica and I am junior at Georgia Southern University located in south Georgia! I am a Canadian born (born in Oakville, Ontario) 22 year old college student. I am majoring in Business Management and minoring in Psychology and IT (Information Techonogy). I think living in the different places that I have, as well as the different origin of both sides of my family has brought a few different views to cooking as well as decorating. My exercise background: I have played pretty much every sport except for cheerleading. I have always loved to try any sport that was available for me to try, the most recent one being Rugby for my university (Go Eagles!) All throughout high school I played lacrosse, which definitely kept me in shape! We did everything from long distance runs, to sprints, to weight training, to ladders etc. When I went to college my first year up to Canada at Brock University, let’s just say, I didn't really do much. I didn't run AT ALL, which is a big change compared to how much I was working out during my high school years. At that point, I started to put on weight. I didn't really realize at the time, but the decrease in exercise as well as the increase in eating cafeteria and restaurant food, wasn't the best combination! After my move back to Georgia my second year of college, I still didn't eat healthy and work out as much as I would have liked to, but at the time, it didn't seem like a pressing issue. I just continued doing what I was doing, and didn't really realize that the weight kept piling on. I weighed the most I did in January 2012, at 187 pounds. It is amazing that I didn't realize how big I was getting, as all my life up until then, I was around the 120 mark, and healthy! I ate a lot and worked out as much as possible, but sometimes college does that to you! Weight loss journey: After January and seeing the constant change in myself, I decided I needed to do something about it. Up to this point, I have lost 26 pounds. I have been eating well on and off, some weeks I would eat great and healthy, others I would go out to eat every night of the week, from pizza to mexican! I have been working out on and off, but really have pushed it into gear beginning in May. Losing that 26 pounds basically on diet alone just shows you how important eating right really is! In this blog I will tell tricks and tips that I did to help me. You just have to remember to always stay positive! Your hard work WILL pay off! Good Luck!
