Dr. Openshaw was born in Copenhagen, Denmark and raised in the Modesto area. In addition to being a graduate of Ceres High School, Brigham Young University, and Baylor School of Dentistry, he spent two years in Africa serving a mission for his church. Aside from his passion for dentistry, Dr. Openshaw loves sports. He has participated in football and basketball. He currently enjoys water skiing, snow skiing, snow boarding, and windsurfing. Participating in these sports is especially fun now that his children are old enough to enjoy the sports with him. As an Eagle Scout, Dr. Openshaw enjoys the outdoors and thrives on camping, hiking, and adventures. Dr. Openshaw and his wife, Micki (a math professor at MJC), have five children —three girls and two boys —ages 14 to 20. The Openshaws’, along with a wide assortment of animals, live happily next to the Tuolumne River near Hughson.
